Research

Across UC San Diego’s health sciences community — including UC San Diego Health, UC San Diego School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science, and Jacobs School of Engineering — researchers and clinicians are working together to move discoveries from the laboratory into improved care for patients. The PREDICT Initiative plays a vital role in this mission by developing innovative strategies to prevent cancer and identify disease at its earliest, most treatable stages.

The PREDICT Initiative brings together multidisciplinary scientists, clinicians, and physician-scientists to accelerate research, clinical innovation, and prevention-focused approaches. This collaborative team is helping to create a future in which more cancers can be prevented or detected sooner, enabling timely intervention, improving patient outcomes, and supporting long-term health and recovery.

Our Research Goals

PREDICT focuses on the areas of greatest unmet need in cancer early detection — where current tools fall short, and patients need better options. Our research projects are supported by shared infrastructure that connects data, biospecimens, and computational tools across projects.
